Pianist ranked third

Pianist Alfonso "Poncho" Hernandez performed last week at the Concurso de Piano Maria Clara Cullell, held in San Jose, Costa Rica from Oct. 26-30. There were 40 applicants who were part of the competition. The applicants were from 10 countries. Eight pianists advanced to the final round, where Hernandez ranked third, earning the honorable mention award. Hernandez is enrolled in the Professional Performance Certificate program in the Conservatory and is a member of the studio of Roberta Rust.
