Lindsey R. Preston ’15
I am honored to be the recipient of the Heart Scholarship. My name is Lindsey Preston and I am a member of the incoming freshman Class of 2015 at Lynn University. I am from Hampton, New Hampshire, and my major is Pre-Med.
I have an older brother Bobby, who is a junior at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. His major is Communications. Last year he worked on air for the University’s radio station. I was able to listen to him on the internet.
Community service and athletics have always been a part of my life. I was chosen as a student ambassador for The People to People program, which was started by President Eisenhower. This allowed me the opportunity to travel to Europe for 3 weeks with other ambassadors. As ambassadors, we represented the United States and brought good will. We participated in many community service projects.
I have participated in athletics, both in school and on travel teams: soccer, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, and track and field. Lynn University is considering a lacrosse program.
I am a recent graduate of San Marcos Baptist Academy, a small boarding school in San Marcos, Texas. My high school years were a bit of a challenge. I switched schools four times trying to find a school to understand my learning disability of Attention Deficit and a mild form of Dyslexia. Along the way I learned a lot about my learning style, which led me to Lynn University.
Your scholarship will allow me to participate in the comprehensive support program, which will help me reach my potential and success at Lynn University.
I am excited to be attending Lynn University with your support. I sincerely appreciate your kindness.
