Lin named Steinway Artist

Tao Lin, artist faculty, collaborative piano in the Conservatory of Music, has been named a Steinway Artist by Steinway & Sons New York, joining an illustrious list of concert pianists which include Lang Lang, Barenboim, Yefim Bronfman and Emmanuel Ax. In contrast to other makers, who presented their pianos to pianists, William Steinway engaged the great Russian pianist Anton Rubinstein to play Steinway pianos during an American concert tour in 1872, with 215 concerts in 239 days. It was a triumph for both Rubinstein and Steinway and the Steinway Artists program was born.

Steinway & Sons has since cultivated these special relationships with pianists from every genre. From classical pianists like Lang Lang, to jazz stars like Diana Krall, to pop icons like Billy Joel, to "immortals" like Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Arthur Rubinstein — more than 1,600 artists make the Steinway their own.
